Welcome to the restaurant 'Stora Antis" in Klaipeda. Our family likes to cook appetizing food, but most of all to eat tasty dishes. On one occasion we have bought a small wine restaurant in Klaipeda. There was no need for restoration – here every brick reminded about quiet and calm XIX century, and we had no wish to change anything in earnest. We have only expanded the subsidiary lodgments, decorated interior by antiquarians, and created small museum of antique things in the hall. The restaurant was built in 1856 on the burnt foundation after the Great Fire in Memel in 1854. Restaurant is an architectural monument and is guarded by the state. We decided to make our cuisine Slavic – i.e. to gather the best recipes from Russians, Ukrainians, Poles, Balkans, Byelorussians, and to prepare those dishes as tasty as possible. Now “Stora Antis” in Klaipeda is a small restaurant in the very centre of an old town, on Tiltu street, 6. It slightly reminds of a shop of antiques, a little bit of museum, and also of a club for variety stars, politicians and businessmen. But the most important is our qualitative cuisine. Together with the most popular dishes of the restaurant there are wonderful Ukrainian and Russian soups, stroganina from mackerel, bonito, tunny and salmon (that are prepared according to the recipes of the northern nations of Russia), various sour vegetables and other snacks that are always included in every Slavonic cuisine. Russian pelmeni, Ukrainian curd and fruit dumplings, pike-perch prepared with sauce of mussles and shrimps on the white dry wine vapours, turkey filled with dried fruit, nuts and cranberry sauce, 400 grams of beef steak originally served with 3 sauces, and lots of other dishes. In our restaurant you may order beforehand everything you were dreaming of, have read or heard. Our cooks will prepare everything – home-made chops with mashed potatoes (puree), which were ordered by Russian humorist Maksim Galkin, vegetarian cucumbers filled with hot curd that Lithuanian rock guru Andrius Mamontovas have tasted here, the most complex compositions of sea food served to the ballet star of our country Egle Spokaite and also to the legendary Russian singer Alla Pugaciova, and finally, nostalgic Byelorussian potato pancakes ordered by rock group BI – 2. We prepare sturgeon steaks with black caviar and oyster sauce, filled lobsters, chicken and various sorts of sea-coast fish, except for eel and smelt, bake elk bacon according to the medieval recipes, roast pineapples and partridges, prepare beer soups, as well as popular Polish soup “fliaki”. Your spirit will be raised by properly served wine or vodka, quite music, tea drinking from copper samovar in the candle light, menu and service in 4 languages, and antiquarians. All the exhibits around are functioning. The one may hear the sounding of gramophone in the evenings, see the candlesticks of the XIX century on the tables, and enjoy the champagne that will be served in the antique copper ice bucket.
